I wanted to make my son's finance a journal for her birthday. She can write in it, put pictures in it, what ever she wants. I had so much creative fun making it. No rules just creative play!!!!

I think i'm mostly done, I might want to add a little more to it.

Birthday card fun

My moms Birthday is coming up on Monday and I needed to make her a card. I wanted to make her something different than cards i've made in the past. I found a piece of paper I had inked and played on some time ago. In fact it was the paper I made and used for my old blog header. When I picked the paper up I knew I wanted to use it for her card.

I also used some brown paper I got from the paint store. I tore all four sides of that paper to give it a shabby look. I also really wanted to do some sewing on it too. The butterfly was one that came white & i used my spray inks to color it. I also did a little stamping on it. Then I decorated the envelope too.

Hubbys co-worker gifts

Every year about in September I start my thinkin' about what I am gonna do for hubbys gifts. I usually peek around the internet and see what fun ideas there are. On splitcoaststampers.com someone had posted in the gallery pics of their Grinch candy canes, so I thought it was so cute, and I would make some.

I went searching my local stores and online for green candy canes. It seems like most come in packages with other colors. I found these. They had the most green in one package.

I did find some candy canes that are new this year, the Shreck ones. But they have pics of him all over the wrapper ( they are cute) but I didn't want that.

Next up, making the tags to hang off the candy canes. I wanted to do the saying on one side & a picture of the Grinch on the other. So I went to my avery program. I am not sure the number of the label, but 6 fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. I think the label size is 4 x 3 1/2. Here is how they turned out.

I need 18 so I printed 3 of each. Then I cut them to size, I just eyeballed it.

I got some card stock ( i used wild wasabi from stampin' up) I cut them to 3 1/4 x 4 1/4. That is 6 per page.

Next i grabbed a color box ink in skarlett and inked the edges on both the saying and the grinch paper. Please excuse my dirty craft table :)

Then I got a glue stick and glued the grinch on one side of the green card stock & the saying on the other.

Next I got a hole punch and punched a hole in the upper corner.

I got some red fun fir and cut 4 to 5 inch pieces and strung that through the hole and tied it around the candy cane.

WOW all done!!!

I have this santa can I made several years ago out of a coffee can. It is the perfect way to transport candy canes so they don't get tangled up or broken. Love it :):):) The handle makes it super handy!!!

So I was playing around with my camera, the new dslr we got last Christmas. I have been a little nervous about trying pictures out of the standard modes the camera has. So here is my first try. I am lovin' the results :)

Every year we (hubby & I) give the boys a new ordiment for the tree. This is this years.
I love the sparkle. I really wanted to capture that.

Here are a few pic's I took of my backyard. We had to replace the sprinkling system 3 years ago, and most of the plants are on their 2 ed year this year. I wanted to try taking some pictures a bit before sundown. I wish I had taken them a little sooner, but I am lovin' the light.

Bird Love

I love birds. My friend gave me a bird feeder last Christmas & I have been feeding them since. I love seeing all the different kinds of birds come to the feeder. The dove's make me laugh. They are so big sitting on the feeder. At times I have seen all three of them on it, it is quite a sight.

For awhile I have wanted to try my hand at drawing/painting some birds. I love how Dina Wakley does her birds. They are so colorful & beautiful. So this is my first try at drawing some birds. The head is shaped kinda funny but I am happy with it.

So It was time to do some dilly beans. They are hubbys favorite. We only have a few jars left of last years, because he likes taking them to work & sharing. So we headed to Day's farm and picked a box of beans. We were able to can 35 pints of the Dilly Beans. Yummo!

I also wanted to try some cauliflower. So I made a little extra of the pickeling brine and poured it over some cauliflower. We got 3 pints out of 1 head.

We also wanted to try the brine on some cucumbers. So Craig went and got a dozen cukes. We got 6 quarts from the dozen cukes. We tried them yesterday with dinner & they are good. Next time we would leave the skins on. I didn't take a picture of the cukes. Oops :)

The concert was awesome :)

Finely the day was here, I was so excited!!! All three bands were ROCKIN'. I had a fun time!!!!!

Night Ranger started off the concert. I was most excited to see them. They are awesome. I was a way happy girl when they played YOU CAN STILL ROCK IN AMERICA, one of the best songs ever, it's in my top 10!!!!!!! They also played Sister Christan, sweet, love that song.

Next up was Foreigner. They were good too. They played mostly their hits, which was good. My favorite song from them for the night was Dirty White Boy, I had forgotten about that song, so when they played it, that was awesome :)

Third up was Journey. I was excited to see them too. I do wish I would have seen them when Steve Perry was singing. He is quite the songbird, beautiful voice. Arnel sang fantastically too. They had an awesome light show. They also blew confetti out of the huge air gun things(not sure what they are called). The sky was filled with white,fluttering confetti. Only a few pieces came our way, so we waited till a lot of the crowd was gone, and Carch went and got a few pieces of the confetti and I used the pieces in our homemade smash books. My favorite song from them was Stone In Love. I felt bad that I had forgotten that song, since it has been along time since I heard it, but I love it. And Lights... always awesome.
I had a super time, wished we would have been closer to the stage, but had a great time :)

The countdown is on!!!! Two weeks until the concert, sooooooooooo excited.

I am so glad the company's who came out with Guitar Hero & Rock Band came out with those products. For my kids, they would listen to a little of the music I loved in the 80's & 90's. But with GH and RB you can play the songs, thus introduced our kids to more good ole' ROCK & ROLL bands. Bands who were pretty much gone away, but with these games bringing them back out to share their awesome music with people who loved them and a new generation to ROCK.

I was over at I Hannas blog and came across a post were she is doing an index card a day. I thought that sounds fun, so I thought I would do it too. I am lovin' it so far. I try to do the cards early in the day so I get them done. I started with the 3x5 card size. I was thinking I wanted to get the 4x6 or 5x7 instead. So while I was at the store looking at the other sizes I just decided to use what I have. I am still on the use all the stuff I have first thing. So here is my first weeks worth of cards.

Sage Love

Oh how I do love the sage's. All the shades of purple are so yummy. They do come in other colors, but I love the purples. I had more of them a few years ago, but with the yard re-do I lost a few of them. So here are my sage's that are blooming now!!!

The first two are not culinary, they are just for show.

New sugar scrub

I have been needing to make some sugar scrub. I was down to the bottom of my ice cream bucket and that's not good lol. I love it so much and it is pretty easy to make. I know I might seem a little wack, but I use it everyday on my face. I just love the feeling of having that soft, exfoliated face in the morning. I even take some with me when we go on a trip/vacation. I just gotta have it.

The kind I make in bulk is the emulsified kind. It has lots more ingredients than the simple basic sugar & oils mixed together kind. I do like that kind too, I like to trade them off.

The reason the scrub turned darker is because I added some lotion to it. The peppermint lotion I made and showed in a post back a bit. If my scrub dries out a little (I don't put a lid on it in the shower) I will add a little lotion or aloe vera to it.

Garden update

My last garden post (two posts away) I posted a picture of my square foot garden. It has grown lots since then(only 16 days ago). Saturday while we had some clear weather I went out and picked some lettuce and spinach. It sure made a yummy salad & is still going strong. I am amazed how fresh it still is.

My Garden

I thought I would post some pic's of my 2 square foot gardens. They are slowly growing. I wish I would have planted the pea's, spinach, and lettuce a little earlier in the season, but they are doing fine :) The front row we are planting the radishes. We plant a square foot every two weeks.

Next is the sfg with my garlic in it. I planted the garlic last October and it is usually ready around the forth of July. Behind the garlic I am planting 4 squares of jalapeno peppers. The row behind that are my broccoli, love homegrown broccoli!!! On the back row will be some tomatoes. We are going to put up a frame with some fencing to grow the tomatoes vertically on. So excited!!!

The candy tuft is in full bloom. Nice!!!

Canvas Bag

Awhile ago a friend gave me this canvas bag with a saying on it. It sat around, but a week ago I thought I sure could use that canvas bag to tote things around. I tore muscle in my leg & have been on crutches for 5 weeks now. I am always wanting to have a tote to carry my water, some art journal supplies, stuff like that. Looking at my tote, it for sure needed to be jazzed up some. So I got out my spray inks, punchinella, stencials, acrylic paints & got to it. I am lovin' all the bright color & it makes me happy. So here it is!!!!!!

So there it is, my colorful tote!!!!!

Here is one of my newer pages. I had fun making it. I got home from shopping and wanted to use the red mech bag you can buy your onions in. So I did. I also used some inky paper towel. I also knew I wanted to use some of the fancy packing tape I got from Michaels. I got it awhile ago and wanted to find a place to put all 4 of them down. This seemed to be the place to me. I also did a little stitching and stamping too. Its all good.

Gratitude Journal

I just love createscrapbooks.com. Jana Is so talented with all her mixed media art, scrapbook pages, cards, home decor and lots more. They do a live show that rocks.

Jana & Terri have designed a gratitude journal. I got my note book the other day at staples (5x7 size) to use as my journal. I took it out yesterday and got the cover done. I knew I wanted a flower on it & I wanted to do some stitching too. I really like how it came together. I found some lace from my stash I wanted to use to cover up some of the black that is on the spine. The lace had some spaces here and there so I decided to use some floss and add to it. I just am happy with how it all came together. I love those times when you can just sit down to create something & the ideas just keep flowing and pretty soon your project is done. That ROCKS!!!

So this is my finished cover. I sat down & wrote in it too. I find writing hard but I know if I keep at it I will get better!!! Hoping so anyway!!!

I was checkin' out my journal yesterday & realized I never did post a pic of this art journal page.
I made the page around these bulbs I got at the store the other day. I was so excited to get planting I planted the bulbs the same day I got them from the store. The tips are already peeking up through the ground, oh happy day.

Speaking of happy day, today is the first day of spring, oh ya. I plan on getting my peas, spinach & lettuce planted sometime this week. Our weather forecast for the week is rain/snow one day mostly cloudy the next day and so on for the next week, so I am gonna try when I can.

The other day I watched Julie Balzers live with prima class on making a travel journal. I was hoping to do the class right along with her, but I didn't have the right papers to use for the journal. So the next morning I went to my local craft store (Roberts) and got some fun, springy, so cute papers. I was wanting to make the journal for an upcoming vacation, so I needed the right papers.

Birthday

Yesterday was my Birthday!!! I went shopping at a local craft store & got a few new things. So I decided to do an art journal page with some of my new goodies. I am loving using markers to add a little somethin to my pages.

My super nice hubby gave me some flowers. Sweet :)

Here is my latest art journal page. I am really my diggin chai these days. With winter weather still upon us I am really lovin my chai.

I was all set to start making chai from scratch. I even got on youtube, watched a few videos on how to make it. So I was at the store checking out the black tea's and I came across stash-chai spice black tea. It has the same ingredients as making it from scratch, so I thought cool I will give it a try. So far I am lovin it, awesome on a cold winter night. Kind of like a comfort food, but a comfort drink.

So I made a simple page about my chai. The sticker (with the heart) I made came from a free printable Valentines Day art journal page from Traci Bautista. Her artwork is so inspiring, check it out!!!

"Wooped"

So I was going through my some containers I keep my printed pictures in and ran across some pic's I have of Craig & I when we were dating. I really wanted to put them in a layout.

I didn't have any plans on what I wanted this layout to be, I just went with it.

I had some light tan card stock so I grabbed that and sprayed some of my spray inks on it. The paper kind of curls up when you are drying it, but that's ok with me.

Then I grabbed some painters paper (the kind you get at the paint store, you use it to cover windows, stuff like that while you are painting), cut out a heart shape and spray inked that too. I really like how the paper gets wrinkly when it is dried, pretty cool.

I decided I wanted some stitching on the heart, so I got some red dmc floss and stitched around the heart shape.

I wanted to add a few more hearts to the page, so I found some felt and cut out a few heart shapes. I cut out some paper hearts to add to the back of the felt ones.

Next I added the pictures then the title.

I love how it turned out, now having my story on a page!!!

Halloween Mini Albums

I am making each of my boys a Halloween mini album. I got the albums from a local craft store & they are made by Bo Bunny. I had some Halloween papers but had to go get some more. I know it is a odd time to be working on Halloween mini albums but I have been getting all my old film made over to digital cd's. I am almost done, only two rolls left. I take a few in every couple weeks & so excited to be done. I am hoping for more Halloween on those last two rolls. Most of the rolls of film are from the eightys.

So this first album is Carch's, I do have all his pictures digi.

So that is what I have so far. I still need to do some journaling.

Doodling

I thought I would try a little doodling. It was harder for me than I thought it would be. I like to doodle to.
Usually when I am on the phone I doodle. I do the same square, mouse & mushroom I used to do when I was a little girl. I am thinking I need to stretch it a bit. I do like all the doodling & zentangles I am seeing out there.

Robin's Cards

My friend Robin wanted me to make her some new cards. I made her a few a couple Christmas's ago and she has used them up. I was excited to make some more since it has been awhile since I made any.

The first card I think is for her mother-in-law, and she wanted hearts on it.

This card if for Robin's brother. His Birthday is coming up soon. I thought the bear would be kinda funny because their last name is bear.

The next two cards are criss cross cards. I got the idea from splitcoast stampers. I love these cards, they are fun to make. On both cards I used stampin' up papers. I just love the colors.

The rest of the cards are just for fun. Some with sediments and some not. Some more feminine and some more masculine.

So there ya have it :) Robin wanted 5 cards and she is getting 10.

It looks like I am up and runnin'. So here are some pictures of things I have been working on.

This page I am not sure if it's done or not. I might add some more to it. I do think it needs a little somethin' else, just not sure what.

This page was all about the sun. It was nice and sunny outside at the time, so that is what inspired this page. Looking through my pages I am finding a theme. Right now most of my pages are about how the weather is outside at the time. I didn't realize how much of what I do is weather related. So I am glad I figured that out!
I think I need to branch out some and try new things.

New Computer :)

Oh Happy day!!!! I think my computer is up and runnin'. We had some problems with the mother board & memory, but I think we have it worked out. I am excited to get everything I had installed and back up and working. I just joined the Daily Digi and I am way wanting to tinker with all the fun digi stuff I just got. I still don't have my EYEFY card installed to post any of the art journal pics I've taken. So I am wanting to post them. I feel like such a slacker.

Stay tuned hopefully sometime this week I will be posting pics.

A big thank you for all the people at CHA, ya I am jealous and hope to be able to go some day soon, who are posting pics & video so we can kinda feel like we are there. From what I have seen so far, WOW so much creativity & oozing in inspiration. It would just be the shiznit!!!!!

It has been a bit since I posted. My computer has been poopin' out, starting to look for parts for a new one. I thought while I can I better post some progress on my journal. One day I spent a little time just gessoing a few pages.

I put a little color down on my page today. I was feeling like this page needed to be about spring.

Here is my finished page. Pretty simple, says " my heart longs for spring".

I do start getting spring fever shortly after Christmas & New Year. I know spring will be here soon & I will be able to get back out in my garden.

Art Journal Every Day

For today I decided I really like some of the art work that is on the tear-out white page. I just had to use them for the cover. So I started cutting thinks spart. I cut out the big Visual Journal words, the corner piece just under what's your story and the half flower.

So I got some of my scraps (love using scraps) and put them on the cover with mod podge. Them I started using parts from the white paper and put them on with mod podge too.

I also added just a few more papers, the light blue one's.

I also wanted to add a little stamping on it as well, so I grabbed my stazon and a little bird stamp I like and stamped away.

That is my more than 10 minutes for today, so when your feelin it ya just gotta go for it---right :)

Art Journal Every Day

Today the first day of AJED I mostly just checked out my new journal. I bought it the day before at Hobby Lobby. Looking closer at I realized it has some pretty cool drawings on it.

I noticed after looking closer that I could rip off the front, white sheet and I would have a nice brown, thick chipboard cover. Over the top of the chipboard is this brown paper with what looks like bubbles or circles all over.

The back of the journal is the same with the chipboard and paper.

I woke up this morning and did my usual check my e-mail first, then start checking the blogs I like. I almost always start with Julie Fei-Fan Baltzers blog. I just love it. Julie is so full of artsy goodness & inspiration, she is sassy & cusses every now & then, so much fun.

So I was checking her blog out & I am on it. I was so excited I had to call hubby down to take a look. I joined her up coming 2011 Art Journal Every Day. It will be so much fun. Julie posted pics & a little blurb about what you can do with your 10 minutes a day.

Banana Hair Treatment

Ya just gotta try this. I have been wanting to try a Banana hair treatment/mask forever.

So the other I thought I would give it a try. I had some over ripe banana's so it was time.

I found a few recipes but decided on the one I found at e-how. Here's a quick peek---

2 bananas

3 Tablespoons mayo

1 Tablespoon olive oil

essential oils ( if you want, I didn't use any )

I added a little squeeze of honey to

I put the treatment on my hair, in the morning, on my dry hair. I left it in for about an hour. Then washed it out & shampooed my hair.

After the treatment my hair was so soft and manageable, I think my hair loved it.

Like I said before it is awesome & your hair will be happy :)

Another Stazon experiment

I got another stanzon re-fill today. A 50% off coupon made it even better lol.
I got a small spray bottle and put some rubbing alcohol it and added the stazon. I added quiet a few drops of the stazon. I quit adding the ink when I thought I had the color pink I wanted. I am sure it would take alot more to get even close to a red. The name of the stazon is blazing red.
I just love how the "new" homemade spray ink turned out. They dry so fast & the colors are quite vivid, just love it.

I added a few more drops to the bottle. I want it a little darker.

I added a couple really close sprays to my canvas. I put down a big piece of canvas down before I spray to catch all the over spray, and as a bonus I can use the canvas for other projects.

Re-cycle journal with Jana

I just love the on-line live classes with Jana over at createscrapbooks.com. Jana is so talented and so much fun. She truely inspires!!!!!!! Janas blog is at http://www.2worldswings.blogspot.com/, go check it out.

This journal was made up from junk mail & envelopes. It was a blast!!! So sit back & enjoy all the inky, sewing, paper towel, fiber, shipping tag, ribbon, paper, button, fabric, canvas goodness.
So here is my creation :)

I had so much fun just letting my creative juices flow making this puppy that I am saving more "junk" to make another one.

By the way, my journal was made with what I have on hand, I didn't go and buy anything to make this. I have been on a quest to use the supplies I already have and I think it pushes me creatively to dig a little deeper using what I got.

Christmas candy cans

Here are some more pull tab cans. I made a few throughout the year for birthdays, but decided to make them for co-worker gifts for Christmas. They are super fun to do.

My favorite cans to use are the Great Value fruit cans found at Walmart. Any can will do, but the bottom of the can has to have the same kind of bottom on it as the top of the can.

First I took the lable off the can & washed it out, then let it dry.

When I first started on these cans I was going to use some of my scrapbooking papers, but I only have a few leftover from last year. I have been on a quest to use the supplies I have first. So I decided to use wrapping paper, and it works out great. I cut the paper to 10" x 4 1/4 minus a little more on the 4 1/ 4 end.

After the paper is cut I used elmers glue to glue the paper to the can. Works great.

Wrap the paper around the can.

Next I traced around the top of the can, but that size is still a little to big so you have to cut some off from inside the traced line. Easy lol !!!

Then cut a piece from the circle you just cut out. This piece fits under the pull tab.

The fun part is here, stuffing the candy in the cans. I used suckers, little candy canes, red & white mints, little mini mixed candy bars, chocolate coins & bells. Whatever you like!!!

Then I used some super glue to attach the bottom of the can back on. Be careful and go easy on the super glue.

Then I got some of the Christmas curling ribbon, 2 pieces and tied around the pull tab. I also added a little business like card to it, wishing happy holidays from, and hubbys name on it.

They were easy, fun to do, and turned out cute,

December Daily - Dec 1

It is fineally here, December. I thought I would start off my project with a pic of my new camera.
I have been wanting a new camera for some time. On Black Friday morning, early about 3 I got up. Craig couldn't sleep either so he came downstairs. On his cell phone he was getting updates from newegg. There was the Canon Rebel on sale, so I thought I would do a little snooping around to check it out. I had done some but wanted to do a little more. The reviews were mostly good & I had heard alot about the camera from other scrapbooking, picture taking ladies. They all gave the rebel the thumbs up. So we went for it, and as luck would have it I got the camera today, just in time to start the project. So here are a few pics taken with my Christmas pressy my new Canon Rebel.

Some new pages

I got an idea to try some new techniques in a couple new scrapbook pages I recently did. The brown crinkly paper used behind the pic's on the left is paper I got, on a roll, from the paint store. I think it's used to mask off larger areas before painting. When I saw it I thought I can use that on my scrapbook pages. It was cheap, under two bucks for I think seventy five feet or so. I also cut out a heart shape from cardboard, slapped some gesso on it, took my finger and whipped some paint on it. It was a blast to do, and I love how it turned out.

On this page I used the same painters paper & cardboard heart. The star is made from some watercolor paper I used some spray ink. I also got some punchnella and blue acrylic paint & painted the top part of the star.
Both pages have a cuttlebug embossed paper, then I inked it, under the pic's on the right. You can see the one in the top pic better :)

I found I blog that I just love. It Roben-Marie Smiths. She does lots of awesome art. I especially like all the file folders she has been creating. I checked out some of her free videos and wanted to try my hand at making some too. The first one I did I used lots of paper scraps I had.

Next I tried one with watercolor paper. I cut a sheet in half and added half to the front and the other half of the paper to the back. I added a layer of gesso to the paper before adding any paint. I did some spray ink and let it run down the page, some acrylic paint and stenciling too.

The third one I tried I used mostly spray inks and some acrylics also. I used some of the acrylic paint for the flower petals. I dipped my finger in the paint and made the petals with my fingerprints. I also went and got some better thread and a stronger needle for my sewing machine.
They are super fun to make. I have lots of file folders so I will be making more.

Scrapbookin' Daisy

Last friday I took part in Jana's class at createscrapbooks.com. I just loved the page she did and wanted to make one too. I have had these pics of Daisy laying around I that is what I was inspired to do. I love the beading swirl Jana did and made one also.

I think I need to add alittle more red spray ink to the page. I also forgot to distress the edge of the red background paper. I just loved how this page turned out, I think Daisy is liking it too ;)

Square Pumpkins

I saw the cute pumpkins out in ciber land somewhere, and thought I want to make those. So I went to Lowes and got a 2x4. I had my hubby cut the wood pieces.

The sizes I wanted are 2" for the stem, 7" for the pumpkin top & bottom, and 8" for the pumpkin middle. So 5 pieces altogether.

Next I went to my local craft store and picked up some 2 sided paper and some orange paint.

I forgot to show all the steps lol. Cut the wood and sanded the rough edges, painted the sides of the wood blocks with the orange paint, then sanded again. the stem piece I painted a brown. Next I added the paper. I used modge podge to adhere the papers to the wood blocks. I used Aleens tacky glue to glue the wood blocks together. I let them sit over night.

I also added some fall leaves & ribbon I got from the craft store.

I was able to make 3 total pumpkins from the one 2x4. Super easy & fun to make.

I am so lovin' my art journal. I am such a noob at it all, but I just love it. I told the fam yesterday that think everyone should art journal. It is so awesome & freeing. Here are a few of my pages.

I really love the song by U2 Beautiful Day. Don't let it get away!!! I love that saying. The day was so beautiful, a late September day and I was so thankful for the things in my life !!!!!! I have an incredible husband & fantastic boys (3), just love 'em and a super cool dog :)

What a beautiful day!!! Wow 10 10 10. My garden is going. Usually on 10 9 we get our first frost of the year, so when I went outside today with all the flowers still blooming I just needed to pick some. The red salva is just georgus(and a hummingbird fav this summer) and the zinias & calendulas are still going strong too. I think tomorrow I will finish pulling out the radishes, get the green beans and plant the garlic. I still am hoping for a little more time for more of the tomatoes to turn red, can't get enough of them. Their is still yellow summer squash & zuchinni coming on, although it has slowed down with the cooler weather.

I am hoping with the long, cool, wet spring we had we will have a longer autumn too.
Still time to enjoy all the yummies coming on in the garden, and time to collect some more flower seeds too.

Sunday Drive

Last Sunday we went for our yearly leaf ride. We usually do a little hike, throw rocks in the water, collect a few branches of beautiful fall leaves. Spend some fun family time together. Our favorite place to go is North Fork. It is so beautiful!!!

The mountain is full with bright reds & oranges. This pic is of us hiking up the stream that runs through North Fork. It was a blast. Of corse I provided some of the entertainment by falling in the water. We were coming back down stream & down I went. I was laughing so hard, the boys and Craig wern't sure if I was laughing or crying. I was laughin. I get the laugh attacks where my whole body shakes, pretty funny. Here I was in the water, laughin so hard I couldn't get up. Fineally I did & was soppin wet the rest of the time. It was to fun :)

I have been wanting to try some art journaling, so I had to find a book/journal to paint in. I have this journal that I kept A list of some essential oils I bought years ago taking up only one page, so I decided to use that. Inside the front cover is a pocket and I had a pattern of how to make this rose doll. Well I am not so interested in making the doll now, but the picture of her I thought needed to go in the journal. So on the very first page I put her.

A few other pages.

Not sure if I am done with this page yet. I wanted to try some spray ink on a canvas type material.

Art journal page

I am lovin this art journal page. I have made a few in the past, but they seem forced to me, or I got the idea from someone( nothing wrong with that I do it all the time). This page I got the idea & just ran with it. I am new to art journaling and really lovin it so much!!!!!!

How I got the inspiration for this page came up in a funny way. I was downstairs in my "studio :)" creative space, I share my space with the treadmill, food storage, my paper craft/ scrapbooking/ paint/ art journal/ mixed media/ homemade skincare- cold press soap, sugar scrubs, lip balm/ yarn-fabric/ some Christmas decorations/ kids school stuff area. I have a window that faces south, so I get good light & I love to open the window and have fresh air coming in. And when I turn on our clothes dryer during the summer months I for sure need to open my window to help with air flow.

So I am downstairs and when I start up the dryer and my window is already open so I go to open up the window on the other side of the room to get extra good air flow going on. Hubby is at his computer desk doing his thing(working form home today) and I open up the window & pull back the blanket. He has this yucky red & blue plaid heavy blanket as his window covering. We have had that atrocity hanging there for almost 14 years now. I give him crap all the time about that ghastly thing, but he likes it, makes his side of the space dark. I think the boys in our home are vampires, hubby included. He knows it gets my goat, I hate that deep dark blanket, not to mention but I'm gonna this window is in the front of our home. NICE!!! Good thing I have lots of plants in front of the window to hide the blanket of doom!!!
Can you say HILLBILLY!

So I go and pull the blanket so the air can pass threw the window, ya know good air flow. My hubbys like yikes when I lighten up the room. What a dork!!! I was like ahhhhh the nice fresh air how awesome that fresh clean air.

First Canvas

I really like the mixed media projects Jana over at Createscrapbooks has been doing these days. I wanted to try a canvas like the one she has done. So I went to michaels and got a 3 pack of the 8x10 size for $3.99.

I had a blast playing with it. Love the freedom and the mess.I didn't have all the supplies Jana had so I used what I had or tried to make it. Like the punchinella she has, I don't have any, so I got a piece of duct tape and folded it in half and stuck the halfs together,then punched holes in it. Next time I would get a heavy card stock and punch holes with one of my circle punches(saw someone do that,after the fact lol).

Cade in the Bubbles

This past summer I have been taking all my old rolls of film into get developed or put on to cd. When I opened one of the picture envelopes I saw this picture of Cade, I started just laughing.Ya see Cades legs look the same 15 years later,when he stretches his legs, feet & toes out like that. Seeing that picture was to funny. I knew I just had to scrap it!!!

My son's birth - 1 years old

I got the idea for these pages from Noell over at paperclipping.com. She did one like this of her son Aiden and I thought it was a great idea. I love how my pages turned out. I really liked using pictures that were already printed instead of editing them in photoshop. The look of Calvin 's and Cade's do show a more dated or nostalgic look. Calvin's printed in 88 & Cade's in 95. It is a blast to make these memories for yourself and children. Telling their story!!!

My new scrapbook page was a part of the Big Picture Festival over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. This was an idea from Stacy Julian on taking a picture of something you treasure and scrap about it. So I chose to so a page on my stuffed animals I have had since I was a little girl. I totally wanted the page to be really girly with lots of flowers. I love how it turned out, it was so much fun to do!!! I got the idea on doing the flower with the stem from an art journal page of Donna Downey's.

Mini Art Journal

Hi, I have been participating in the mini art journal tutorial with Jana over at CreateScrapbooks.com. Jana is an incredible artist and she inspires me. The tutorial is tought in three parts. It was a blast & I learned lots. I really like the freedom art journaling is about.

I messed up a little on the cover not paying attention to where I was sewing on the heart(lol). Also I should have used the other half of the paper towel to use as part of the inside cover. I really like how the pages turned out. I just might have to make another:)

Scorpions, Tesla & Jackyl

The Ber-Fest was finally here. Our family has been excited for months. We were on row L which was the 12 row at USANA. It was a blast & really, really loud!!!!!
Here are some pic's.

Wating in line for the gates to open. It was way hot I tell ya.

First off was Jackyl. They did a few songs one of them was the Lumberjack song! Love it!!! The singer Jesse James Dupree sawed a stool up during the song.

Second up was Tesla. Craig has liked them for years, in fact this show was the third time he has seen them in concert. Cade really likes them too!!!

Finally it was the Scorpions turn. WOW they were loud.

Yummy Frozen Lemonade

I have been wanting to try some frozen lemonade. The recipe is the one on the stuff I wanna make list. I made it like the recipes says using the can of lemonade & three cans of cold water.

TA,DA here it is when finished. The first time we made it, it took only 15 minutes until it was done. This this time it took along time (almost an hour). I think we had more water in with the ice & salt mixture. We will definitely add more water next time. We have also tried frozen rootbeer too. They are all so yummy. Soon we are going to try grape juice & 7up to try to make frozen lime ricky's. Oh ya!!!!!!

Envelope Mini Album

I have been wanting to do a mini album for Grandma Donna for a while. We don't see her as much as I would like to, so I wanted to send her an album with things in it we have been doing this year so far. It is hard for her to travel like she used to, so I wanted her still share in the fun with us.

I started out with Basic Greys two scoops. It has a 6x6 paper pad, small brads, larger brads, chip board shapes & chipboard alphabet (didn't use the alpha).
I cut out of cereal boxes 2 parts for the cover & 2 parts for back. By the time they are covered in paper & inked you can't even tell they were made from cereal boxes.

I went looking on you tube for a turtorial on making the envelope album. I found one that has beautiful papers & embellies WOW!!!! Check it out here.

So here are all the pic's from the album.

It was a blast to make & I am excited for Grandma to get it.

I have had this big idea for the past few months. I wanted to go see my oldest son Calvin & surprise him. So I was real sneaky & every time I have talked to him the past few months I would ask him about his work schedule, if he was taking any days off soon, questions like that. So later last week I asked about his schedule (he probably thinks I'm going senile ( I am to young for senile :) asking the same kinds of ??? every time we talk :). So Saturday afternoon we left for Challis, a 5 hour drive for us to surprise Calvin. It was a beautiful day for a long drive, I was so excited to see Calvin & us spend some family time together.

We checked into our motel & went out for dinner to the restaurant where Calvin works. As soon as we got there Calvin came walking out from the back and was putting something away at the salad bar. I hollered " Hey Goodlookin", Calvin turns around & he was surprised. It took him a second to let it soak in. Then I gave a big hug and all was good!!!

The owner of the restaurant insisted Calvin come and spend time with us. It was a slow night so I didn't feel bad about Calvin abandoning his post. It was great to see Calvin and spend time with him. We all had Patty Melts & talked. I got to explain my craziness.

The owner was nice to take a family pic. We had to let Calvin get back to work so we went bowling.

The next day we meet for breakfast & went on a ride. Calvin took us to a fun hiking, creek crossing, picture taking place. We all took of our shoes & socks to cross the creek & go on a little hike. Man o man the water was cold. Then we found a tree across the creek and came back over on it.

After our hike on the way to take Calvin home we stopped and got some "good" fireworks. It was a short trip, but so glad to spend time with Calv & miss his so, and wish he lived closer to us!!!!!! Maybe someday :)

USA Wood Blocks

I have these 3 wood scrap pieces I have been wondering what can I do with those. I saw where someone had made USA blocks out of them, so that is what I did!

First I got some blue paint. It was old & really thick so I added some water to it. The paint color turned out ok just almost looked like a blue wash. I figured that was alright since most of the front of the block will be covered.

The I picked out some scrap papers. I also used my cricut to cut out the letters. My dial was set on 2 1/4 for the letters & I used the capitals in that font.

Next I started putting on the papers. I used Mod Podge matte finish.

Here they are drying. I will add a top coat of the Mod Podge to finish.

Carch Specks :)

Carch & I had to go to the eye Doc a few weeks ago. Sure enough Car definetly needed some glasses. He is wanting to get contacts but the Doc suggested getting glasses and getting used to them first. So we went and ordered his specks. He was so excited to be able to see he had a count up on how many days going on our fridge with magnets. As soon as we got the call his glasses are ready we were there!!!

Carch looks super handsome in his new glasses!!!
