Crocheting Machine

This winter I have been making lots of cowls. I love all the color and texture, and they keep me so warm. Just having them around your neck helps so much. We have had record cold days this winter.

I found a pattern at Bee & Buzz. A cute granny cowl, so I went for it. It has lots of the same colors as my "snake blanket".

Then I crochet the same color pattern again and again.

All done :)

Two in one

This post today is kinda a two in one.
First, I was making lots of cupcakes last week for Valentines Day. I only had one cupcake baking pan so I decided to head over to Walmart and pick up another pan.

As I was taking off the paper on it so I could wash and dry it, I was thinking this is pretty sturdy ( like the light cardboard material cereal boxes are made of)  and could I use it somehow as a stencil. So I held on to it

Later in the week I saw a post by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer about using newspaper to make something fun out of, and I wanted to try it.

I used my stencil on my gesso, painted, inky page. Then I glued it to a piece of light grey cardstock.

I like how it turned out.

Have a great weekend.

Peeps Bunting

I wanted to make another bunting for my living room window. I think they are so cute & really add some holiday or seasonal fun. I think peeps are cute and went out searching for a pattern. I found one here. I printed it out but decided to make it a little bigger. So I just penciled in about another 1/4 inch around and it worked great.

I needed to get some felt so I went to Joann and got some.

First, I folded the felt in half and pinned the pattern to it.

I liked it ok but thought it might be a little easier to trace around it , then cut it out.

You can turn them over and you won't even see the black. I cut the rest of them out this way.

Now it's time to add the eyes & nose. I used the eraser on a pencil and dark brown paint. I dipped the eraser in the paint each time I made an eye or nose.

I let the paint dry for and hour or so, before I glued them together. I wanted them to be sturdier so I glued two together.

Next I went to my stash and found a piece of ribbon. I measured the middle and spread the peeps out evenly and glued them down.

I thought it turned out cute but I wanted to add a little somethin' else. A little more color. I have been seeing all the pom-poms around and thought that's it. So I picked out a few bright yarns and went to it. I made the pom-poms the old fashion way of just wrapping the yarn around my fingers. It's quick & easy.

I glued the pom-poms to the ribbon and.............. all done.

I will be hanging it out on my front window for Easter the first part of March. I will have to hang something for St. Pattys too since they both are in March this year.

This bunting was fun and easy to make.
It was was inexpensive to make too.

New sugar scrub

I was checking out my google reader this morning & Rebecca at Camp Wander posted a recipe for a sugar scrub. Since I love me a new sugar scrub recipe I thought I would try it out.

I decided to double the recipe.First goes the white sugar.

Next the brown sugar. I tried to brake up the clumps.

Then I mixed them together.

I decided to use half sweet almond oil & the other half olive oil.

When I was done mixing the oils, vitamin e, mexican vanilla & lavender eo the mixture was still a little moist. So I decided to add a little somethin'.

I have lavender that I grow in my garden. I ground it to almost a powder. I have ground oatmeal too. Then I have a mix that's both. That is what I choose to mix in. I added a total of 3 Tablespoons.

Next I put the scrub in a plastic container for the shower.

Here is the recipe & the changes I made.

It is super easy I am excited to try it out!!!

Snake blanket

I finished the main part of my "snake blanket. My first post about it is here. So I think I started making it around the middle of December. So it's taken me about two months.

I choose to do 3 rows of edging. First was a row of the bright pink in double crochet. Second row bright yellow in single crochet. And third row in the turquoise is a shell stitch.

I love the color, especially this time of year when we have so much snow & cold.

Stay tuned, I will post pic's when I finish.

New bracelet

I saw this cute wrap around bracelet. I wanted to make one like it. It was super easy. I crochet a chain stitch
all the way across. I used some yarn by Martha Stewart. Then I attached a silver button.

I think I crochet it to a little over 6 feet long. It wraps around  9 times (on me).

Seed time Baby

I have been wanting to get some seeds going. Pretty much after the first of the year I get spring fever. I got some herb seeds and wanted to get them growin'  I went to the store this morning and got some potting soil then planted the seeds.

Then I added some azomite mixed it in then added the seeds. Then lightly covered the seeds.

Next I took some Popsicle sticks and wrote the names of the seeds on them.

I added the sticks to the pots and lightly watered them and put them in the garden window.

I think I need to go through all the seeds and see what I already have and what I need.

These are seeds from my garden that I collected.

My seeds put away. Oh what a beautiful sight :) All that seedy goodness!!!
