New soap

I saw a post on Ann Marie's blog about a gardeners soap that looked so awesome. I tried to make one like it using ingredients I already have.

Mixing together the oils and water/lye solution.

Cups with different additives to add to the soap.
1 calendula flower petals
1 coffee grounds
1 lavender flowers
1 moroccon red clay

First cup and bottom layer to the soap, the calendula petals.

The soap fragrance is lemongrass sage. I added the calendula soap mix to the bottom of the mold. On top of the calendula I layered the lavender mixture. The soap traced so fast I didn't take pictures of the whole layering process.

Next I added the coffee layer, then the clay & white layer. I didn't have a chance to do the cool swirl. I had to glop the soap into the mold.

I am letting the soaps cure but I just had to try a slice. I am loving all the scrubbiness.

Awesome lotion

I have been needing to make a batch of lotion for awhile. It was kinda cold outside the other day, so I thought it was the perfect day for lotion making.

I used
distilled water, heated with two green tea bags added
 sunflower oil
grapeseed oil
glycerin
e-wax
stearic
preservative
and for fragrance - Monkey Farts

Tea bags steeping in the water.

Weighting then heating the oils, e-wax & stearic.

Waiting for them to cool down.

Adding the oils to the water. I did add the glycerin to the distilled tea mix after I took the tea bags out.

Stick blending them together.

Weighting to add the preservative and fragrance.

Putting the lotion into containers.

I decided not to add any color.
It turned out so rich and creamy. My feet and hands are loving it.

More soap

I have this great customer who when I had my soap & skincare business used to buy from me all the time. She still does. About every year and a half, she calls me wanting some more soap. She really likes the scent of Cool Water Man & Woman, but I can't find the Woman's anymore, so I make it with the Men's. So I make her up 2 batches in my medium mold. This mold makes about 12 pieces. Here are the new soaps I made for Jodi.

Have a great weekend :)

New soap

My friend Rhonda wanted me to make another soap for her mom for Mothers Day. It's another Lily Of The Valley. She wanted it a little scrubby, so I added poppy seeds to it and a sprinkling on top.

New sugar scrub

I was checking out my google reader this morning & Rebecca at Camp Wander posted a recipe for a sugar scrub. Since I love me a new sugar scrub recipe I thought I would try it out.

I decided to double the recipe.First goes the white sugar.

Next the brown sugar. I tried to brake up the clumps.

Then I mixed them together.

I decided to use half sweet almond oil & the other half olive oil.

When I was done mixing the oils, vitamin e, mexican vanilla & lavender eo the mixture was still a little moist. So I decided to add a little somethin'.

I have lavender that I grow in my garden. I ground it to almost a powder. I have ground oatmeal too. Then I have a mix that's both. That is what I choose to mix in. I added a total of 3 Tablespoons.

Next I put the scrub in a plastic container for the shower.

Here is the recipe & the changes I made.

It is super easy I am excited to try it out!!!

Peppermint Rosemary soap

Today I am making a herbal soap. It is scented with peppermint & rosemary essential oils.
I also wanted to make it with a  herbs in it. So I decided to have the bottom layer be the main layer and a smaller layer on top of that with some herbs mixed in. I added some green to the bottom layer and titanium dioxide to the top layer to make it be more white. Then I added some ground peppermint leaves to the top layer and mixed it up. This is what it is looking like so far.

I put all of the green colored soap on the bottom layer. Then started gently adding the peppermint leaf soap on top of that.

I will post a pic later when its ready.
